Festival of Cricket in India begins

From this season onwards, the IPL scheduled to return to its original Home and Away format, after a gap of four years  due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the previous three seasons being held at neutral venues. The 10 teams will play their home games at their predetermined home grounds across the nation.In the last season group stage contestants entirely held in Maharashtra state, in arenas of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune.

From this season onwards for the next five years Jio Cinema app of Viacom18 will broadcast it on internet while Star Sports will do the same on television in India. In this season the participating teams will be able to appeal for review of No balls and Wide balls to the 3rd umpire.

Assam‘s Barsapara Stadium is going to debut as a venue, hosting some games for Rajasthan Royals.

In November 2022, Shikhar Dhawan replaced Mayank Agarwal as the captain of Punjab Kings.Anil Kumble was also replaced by Trevor Bayliss as head coach of Punjab Kings. In August 2022, Chandrakant Pandit replaced Brendon McCullum as head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders.Tom Moody was also replaced by Brian Lara as head coach of Sunrisers HyderabadMumbai Indians have promoted Mahela Jayawardene to a strategic role in the franchise and recruited Mark Boucher as coach for 2023.

The IPL auction took place on 23 December 2022 in Kochi. The most expensive player was Sam Curran, bought by Punjab Kings for 18.50 crore (US$2.3 million), the most paid for a player in the history of the league.Teams are divided in two groups (A and B). Each team will play 7 home and away games, facing the opposite group’s teams twice. Teams within the same group will play against each other once. A total of seventy games will be organized throughout the country in 12 arenas.

How will IPL 2023 line Ups Stack up.

IPL 2023: The Likely first choice full strength 11 of all IPL teams,

1) Gujarat Titans: Gill, Saha (Wk), Williamson, Hardik (C), Miller, Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Shami, Sai Kishore, Yash Dayal

Impact player rule: Can add an extra batsman in Sai sudharshan or abhinav Manohar while they bat or bowl 1st.

2) Csk: Conway, Ruturaj, Ali, Dube, Stokes, Rayudu, Jadeja, MSD (C) (Wk), Chahar, Simarjeet/ Deshpande/ rajvardhan( would prefer deshpande) and theekshana/ Magala ( on basis of conditions)

Impact Player Rule: Add an extra bowler in rajavrdhan or any other bowler and drop a batter. Stokes can’t bowl due to knee injury.

3) Rcb: Kohli, Faf (C), Lomror, Maxwell, Karthik (Wk), Suyash, Shahbhaz, wanindu, David Willey, harshal, siraj.

Impact Player rule: This is one team that can bat till 10 and have loads of bowling options. At best if rcb bat 2nd they can replace siraj with another batsman like anuj Rawat.

4) Lsg: Kl (C), De Kock (Wk), Hooda, Pooran, Stoinis, Badoni, Krunal, Wood, Avesh, Unadkat/ Yash Thakur ( would prefer thakur), Bishnoi

Impact Player Rule: another team with batting depth. Add a batsman extra if bat 2nd in Karan Sharma or Manan Vohra.

5) RR: Buttler, Jaiswal, Samson (C) (Wk), Padikkal, Parag, Hetmyer, Holder, Ashwin, Boult, Chahal and Kuldeep Sen/ Sandeep Sharma ( Would prefer Kuldeep Sen)

Impact Player: This is the team that will benefit the most by it. A 6th bowler in kukdeep Sen or a spinner in Cariappa and murugan ashwin can be beneficial. In Batting Abdul Basit the hitter is there.

6) DC: Warner (C), Shaw, Marsh, Pandey, Powell, Sarfraz Khan (Wk), Axar, Kuldeep, Nortje, Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel if fit or else sakariya

Impact Player: DC can add someone like Lalit Yadav or an extra pacer in sakeriya for eg when they bowl 2nd. When they bat 2nd, can play an extra batter in Yash Dhull.

7) KKR: V.Iyer, Jagdeeshan (Wk), Gurbaz/ Shakib ( would prefer Shakib), Rana (C), Rinku, Russell, Narine, Thakur, Umesh, Southee/ Lockie and Varun.

Impact Player: If Shakib plays at 3, I don’t see the need for Impact player. Enough bowling and batting depth.

8) MI: Ishan (Wk), Rohit (C), SKY, Tilak, David, Green, Shokeen, Arjun Tendulkar, Karthekiya, Archer and Behendroff.

Impact Player and note: Green can’t bowl till April 13. Once he can bowl, brevis can replace behendroff. Nehal Wadhera could be the extra batter and shokeen the extra bowler.

9) SRH: Abhishek Sharma, Mayank, Tripathi, Markram (C), Brook, Phillips/ Klassen (Wk), Sundar, Adil Rashid/ Akeal Hossein, Bhuvi, Umran and T. Natrajan

Impact Player: When SRH bowl 2nd, they can add an extra bowler in someone like Mayank Dagar or markande tyagi or an extra batter in Samrath Vyas

10) PBKS: Dhawan (C), Prabhsimran, Rajpaksa/ Short( mostly rajpaksa), Livingstone, Jitesh (Wk), Srk/ Raj Bawa, Rishi Dhawan/ Harpreet Brar, Sam Curran, K.Rabada, R.Chahar and Arshdeep.

Impact Player rule:

They could add bowlers like Kaverappa or batters like raj Bawa or SRK whoever was first left out. Rishi Dhawan or brar could also be added as bowlers.
