{"id":11129,"date":"2020-10-23T16:31:51","date_gmt":"2020-10-23T11:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citybell.in\/?p=11129"},"modified":"2021-07-09T10:19:42","modified_gmt":"2021-07-09T04:49:42","slug":"11129","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citybell.in\/?p=11129","title":{"rendered":"Explore the chef within you"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Onion pakoda\/ Kanda bhaji<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u20221 cup thinly sliced onions or 1 large onion, sliced thinly (kanda)<br \/>\u2022\u00bd cup besan (gram flour or chickpea flour)<br \/>\u20221 teaspoon oil to mix in the bhaji batter<br \/>\u20221 teaspoon salt or add as per taste<br \/>\u20221 tsp red chilli powder<br \/>\u20221 tsp coriander powder<br \/>\u2022oil for deep frying<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instructions<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making Kanda Bhaji Batter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Slice the onions thinly and place in a mixing bowl or vessel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 Add 1\/2 cup of besan (gram flour) to the sliced onions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3 Add 1 tsp red chilli powder and coriander powder<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4 Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt or as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5Add 1 teaspoon of oil to this mixture. You can even add less salt, but these pakoras taste better when they are a bit salty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6 With your finger tips mix the besan, salt , red chilli powder coriander pordwer and oil , very well with the onions well. Allow the mixture to rest for 5 to 6 mins, as the onions would leave moisture. If the mixture looks too moist then add 1 to 2 teaspoons more of the gram flour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"615\" height=\"820\" src=\"https:\/\/citybell.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-20201023-WA0265.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11128\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citybell.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-20201023-WA0265.jpg 615w, https:\/\/citybell.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/IMG-20201023-WA0265-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Frying Kanda Bhaji<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 Heat oil for deep frying in a deep pan\/vessel or kadai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For crispy bhajis ensure the oil is hot. You could do a small test by adding a pinch of batter to the oil if it rises smoothly and gradually, then add spoonfuls of the batter to the hot oil. Fry the kanda bhajis on a medium flame, else they won&#8217;t fry evenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 While frying, flip the bhajis with a slotted spoon.
